African American Cultural Center at NC State

Program/Medium: Photoshop (Wacom Tablet), Illustrator, Pencils, and Pens

Client: African American Cultural Center at NC State

In my final semester of college I was the Design Intern for the African American Cultural Center at NC State. I really enjoyed it, but I kind of think they didn't know what to do with me in the back of my mind. Was this because I was White? Nah, not at all. I think the college (The College of Design, not NC State as a whole) I went to was unorganized and just threw me in there to make sure someone could get the keys to a gallery that was in the African American Cultural Center that we held our senior art show in. Of all the things I made, only the Kwanzaa header and Ivory Tower flyer were used, and those were both kind of last minute. The University has all sorts of rules about using logos for organizations, so while the students and my supervisors liked the logos/pictures I was making, I'm pretty sure they weren't allowed to use them. Either way, the internship may have been my favorite thing about college. I miss Dr. Ford, John, Director Greene, Ms. Hines, Ms. Jenkins, and all the students. Thank you, AACC, I'll remember you fondly.
